New Star Wars (2015) Teaser Trailer 2 Link & Reaction

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer 2 Reaction

I’m going to be honest, the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer didn’t excite me very much. It raised questions and made me want to see more, but it didn’t enhance my confidence in the J.J. Abrams/Disney reboot. A ball droid and a three-pronged lightsaber didn’t cut it for me, it seemed.

On Apr. 16, the second teaser for The Force Awakens, which opens on Christmas Day 2015, hit the internet. And, after watching it,I am officially excited about this film.

In the trailer, we see a crashed Imperial Star Destroyer marooned on a desert landscape, a destroyed Vader mask, an image of the new Sith Lord’s face (along with some lightsaber work on his part), and, most importantly, a shot of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo standing side-by-side with Chewbacca announcing with a wink their return “home.”

I have to say, it’s interesting to see Han and Chewie together again. It is slightly odd with Harrison Ford’s age, but it nevertheless makes me excited for this Christmas. It appears from this trailer that Abrams is handling the project with care. I would be shocked if this film falls flat of the prequels.

The Post-Script

I will end this article with a reasonable (or perhaps bold) prediction: The Force Awakens will quickly become the highest grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation). Good or bad, this movie will break records with its opening weekend numbers (just months after Avengers: Age of Ultron does the same). If it is good at all, it will easily surpass Avatar if Ultron doesn’t get there first. The Phantom Menace still holds the #5 spot domestically. Think about that: Star Wars Episode 1 is the fifth highest grossing film in the history of America. Based on this trailer alone, The Force Awakens could skyrocket past that.

As always, thanks for reading!
