Greetings readers! I’m taking a break from the usual movie reviews and other rambling affair that I post on CineFiles to let you all know about something that I am currently involved in that I think could do a lot of good.
Flix Premiere is an online streaming service that provides indie cinema to viewers. For the past few months I have acted as one of Flix Premiere’s film development interns, viewing films that are being considered for the platform and critiquing them.
Flix Premiere is undergoing a new viral marketing campaign a la the Ice Bucket Challenge in order to spread awareness and help fund cancer research. The campaign is fairly simple: upload a video on social media in which you recite your favorite movie quote (impressions, props, etc. are encouraged), name the film and the actor who said the quote, and then nominate three of your friends to do the same.
Flix Premiere’s part in the challenge is that for every ticket they sell on their platform, 5% of the proceeds will go to cancer research. On top of that, Flix Premiere will be donating $5,000 to cancer research as well.
What I’m asking my readers to do is to take part in this simple challenge. Make a video, nominate three friends, and post the clip on your various social media platforms with the hashtag #FlixPremiereChallenge. And when you do it, put my name or Twitter handle on the post so Flix Premiere knows that I sent you (and so I can watch your best De Niros and whatnot).
Still not convinced to take part in the challenge? Well, what if I told you that the creator of the top voted video will be awarded $5,000 dollars? You better start stretching your acting muscles.
The two organizations Flix Premiere are partnered with are Cancer Reserach UK and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY. Click the links to learn more about the specific organizations and their goals.

For those wondering, I will be uploading my own video for the FlixPremiereChallenge soon. It will hopefully be up sometime this weekend.
As always, thanks for reading!
