Could Win: Rosamund Pike

Should Win: Reese Witherspoon

This is Julianne Moore’s award to lose. She has been gaining traction as the award season progresses, winning the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild honors. It is true that she had a moving performance, and I don’t see any way in which she could lose. That being said, I personally enjoyed Reese Witherspoon’s role in Wild better. Rosamund Pike also did a great job in Gone Girl, and there has been a large consensus over her performance. It seems to me that Pike is the only opportunity for upset in this category.
