The Best Animated Film category at the Academy Awards almost always comes down to two movies if it isn’t already a clear-cut decision going into the night. In the case of 2016, there is a definitive shoe-in candidate.
That candidate is Inside Out. The film was universally acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and it comes from the behemoth studio Pixar who has plenty of awards to its name. Inside Out is also the only animated film of the lot to receive an Oscar nomination in a category outside of Best Animated Film. That generally means there is a consensus in the Academy that the film is superior.
Nominees:
- Anomalisa
- Boy & The World
- Inside Out
- Shaun the Sheep Movie
- When Marnie Was There
Will Win: Inside Out
Could Win: Anomalisa
Dark Horse: When Marnie Was There
