The 2017 race for Best Supporting Actress is possibly the most clear cut category in the bunch. The same five actresses have been nominated for both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild awards. And these actresses will find themselves vying for the same Oscar statuette, unless something crazy happens.

Best Supporting Actress

• Viola Davis – Fences
• Naomie Harris – Moonlight
• Nicole Kidman – Lion
• Octavia Spencer – Hidden Figures
• Michelle Williams – Manchester by the Sea

Will Win: Viola Davis

 

There is not much to say about this category. Davis is the shoo-in to win. I would say that Nicole Kidman or Octavia Spencer may be swapped out for a different actress, but I don’t know who that actress would be. This is just one of those categories that is too cut-and-dry to be intriguing.
