Best Supporting Actress: another clear frontrunner already solidified for this 2017 Academy Award. The wiggle room for an upset is razor thin. As with all other acting categories, the SAG awards will influence the category, so nothing is set in stone yet. However, even if the SAG is an out-of-left-field upset, I still don’t see how this clear favorite could lose.
That clear favorite…
Best Supporting Actress:
- Viola Davis – Fences
- Naomie Harris – Moonlight
- Nicole Kidman – Lion
- Octavia Spencer – Hidden Figures
- Michelle Williams – Manchester by the Sea
Will Win: Viola Davis
Could Win: Michelle Williams
Should Win: Viola Davis
Don’t get this one wrong, folks! Davis’ odds are astronomical. It would be utterly shocking if she lost this award. Williams and Harris give great performances worthy of an award as well, but they don’t hold a candle to Davis’ scene-stealing in Fences.
This one is, quite boringly, a no-brainer.
As always, thanks for reading!
