2017 Academy Awards Nomination Predictions – Best Original Score

The song and score categories feel like foregone conclusions this year, with one film playing right to what the sound categories are looking for. The real question is what will fill the other four nominee slots.

Best Original Score

Will Win: La La Land

So La La Land will walk away with this one. No surprise here. What is left is four empty spots to fill with non-winners. Lion and Jackie have noticeable scores, and I actually quite enjoy Lion‘s score.  Rogue One is a big question mark. It is a new score for a Star Wars film, and it is not bad. But it also is not John Williams legendary. I don’t know what would replace it, though. I can’t remember any other film score jumping out at me this year. The Jungle Book, perhaps. Perhaps.

Long story short, just put your money on La La Land.

As always, thanks for reading!
