2017 Summer Box Office Predictions

I’m about a month late to this game, but, you know, life gets in the way sometimes. Who are you to judge? This said, I am cheating a bit with a month’s worth of data already available.

Either way, it is time to take a look at what Hollywood blockbusters will top the domestic box office in Summer 2017 (Summer 2017 in this case encompassing the period between the first weekend in May and Labor Day weekend). Shall we?

Academy Awards Predictions 2017 – Best Makeup & Hairstyling

All right, Best Makeup & Hairstyling. It’s only three movies, you can’t screw up. Come on, Alex! It’s just haircuts! You can judge haircuts!

Ahem, sorry. I didn’t realize you had…clicked through already.

The Academy Award for Best Makeup & Hairstyling is…ah man now I’ve lost my train of thought. Let’s see…there’s that Swedish movie. I think there’s some old-age makeup in that one. The guy wears a hat most of the movie…does he even have hair? Star Trek is aliens…now is that makeup or CGI? Chris Pine has nice hair…Suicide Squad…they’re all painted white like clowns…her hair’s kind of rainbow…

2017 Academy Awards Nomination Predictions – Best Makeup & Hairstyling

The Academy has narrowed down the Best Makeup & Hairstyling category to a shortlist of seven films: Deadpool; The Dressmaker; Hail, Caesar!; Florence Foster Jenkins; A Man Called Ove, Star Trek Beyond, and Suicide Squad. This makes our job a bit easier, buy by no means is there a definitive frontrunner here.

Suicide Squad (2016) Movie Review

Suicide Squad begins with a montage of exposition. More specifically, it begins with multiple montages of exposition. Deadshot (Will Smith) is exactly what he sounds like: a hitman who never misses. But he also has a chip on his shoulder because he was taken away from his daughter. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is an ex-doctor turned Joker (Jared Leto) sidekick. And then there are a couple other baddies thrown in for good measure.

2016 Summer Box Office Predictions

Last year, I took part in a game of Summer box office predictions. The end result was that I won a competition at Trivia Club with said predictions, which was a huge surprise because I didn’t even get the number one film correct. Thanks, Trivia Club!

Suicide Squad (2016) Trailer 2 Review

Recently, the new Suicide Squad trailer dropped. And, I have some thoughts.

To begin, I’ll say that the first Suicide Squad trailer, which came out of Comic Con, didn’t do it for me. I simply was not excited to see this movie from the trailer alone.

This new trailer changed that. I did a Continue reading Suicide Squad (2016) Trailer 2 Review
