Snubs From the 2016 Golden Globes Nominations

The Golden Globes suffer from something that the Academy Awards recently remedied quiet easily. The format of the Golden Globes is to have two separate categories for Best Picture, one for drama and one for comedy or musical. The Academy Awards, by comparison, have Continue reading Snubs From the 2016 Golden Globes Nominations

Initial Reactions to the 2016 Golden Globe Nominations

The nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes were announced today. The GGs is generally looked at as the award ceremony that kicks off award season proper and a precursor for what films will be tapped for Academy Award nominations.

Here are my initial reactions after reading the nominee list. Continue reading Initial Reactions to the 2016 Golden Globe Nominations

Star Wars Jar Jar Binks Sith Fan Theory Explained/Reaction

On the Star Wars subreddit, a post from Lumpawarroo quickly become one of the top ten reddit posts of all time. This post was about Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks.

Yes, that Jar Jar Binks. The character that ruined Star Wars for everybody back in 1999 with The Phantom Menace.

However, he may have been much more than meets the eye. Looking back on the prequel films, Lumpawarroo developed an extensive fan theory that posits that Jar Jar is really a powerful Sith Lord.

I know, that sounds crazy. But… Continue reading Star Wars Jar Jar Binks Sith Fan Theory Explained/Reaction

Krampus (2015) New Trailer Reaction & Review

Trick ‘r Treat director and frequent Bryan Singer collaborator Michael Dougherty’s new film is about the German folklore character Krampus: a horned and hoofed figure that somewhat resembles a goat-demon. The new trailer for the film is quite revealing as to Continue reading Krampus (2015) New Trailer Reaction & Review

Most Anticipated Movies of Fall 2015: September

Fall movie season is upon us. This means Oscar watch. Big Holiday films (like a certain space opera…). And the possibility of a September slump. September isn’t the same as January, but there is always a big drop off from Summer box office numbers. This said, September 2015 has some intriguing films to take note of.

Poltergeist (2015) Trailer Reaction

I don’t understand. Carrie (2013) was unnecessary. The Amityville Horror (2005) was unnecessary. Does anybody remember Psycho (1998)? Rebooting classic horror movies simply doesn’t work (95% of the time, at least). Perhaps the only exception to this rule that can be found Continue reading Poltergeist (2015) Trailer Reaction

February 2015 Movie Releases: What to Look For

January is over, which means the new year of film can finally begin to ramp up. The first month of the year is historically a bad time for new releases. The box office is usually dominated by carry-over from the holiday season, leaving January releases as duds the majority of the time. January 2015 was a surprising change of pace with American Sniper’s dominance at the box office (although its release was technically in December). But beyond Clint Eastwood’s war piece, there wasn’t much to be said about January. Now that it’s behind us, we can look ahead to the month in movies.

Super Bowl Movie Trailer Advertising Spots: Thoughts and Reactions

The Super Bowl is always a huge date for advertising campaigns. The movie trailer business is no exception. Plenty of major Spring and Summer releases put out 30 second or one minute spots this year. These are my reactions to some of the big movie trailers of the night.

Fantastic Four Teaser Trailer Reaction

Nowadays, pretty much any superhero movie being backed by a major studio becomes a spring/summer blockbuster. Somewhat surprisingly, the superhero genre of action films has started producing really good movies on a more consistent basis.I can’t think of a superhero comic book adaptation post-Green Lantern that drew unanimous distaste from audiences. This being said, 2015’s new Fantastic Four film is a reboot of some of the worst superhero movies out there. Continue reading Fantastic Four Teaser Trailer Reaction
